- I think I have progressed a lot during my ceramics class intellectually, meaning Ive learned a lot about how to do ceramics and different techniques and methods but I wouldn’t say my projects reflect that growth in knowledge because they are all so different. I am proud of parts of what Ive made but I don’t think they are perfect. I love my goldfish I think they are really cool but when it comes to my mug or my coil pot I dont feel as proud of them because they aren’t exactly what I had in mind. With the pinch pot the blue irritates me a lot and it’s not a much you would cuddle up with because I’m afraid of breaking something off it. When it comes to my coil pot I’m happy with the colors but she’s a little lopsided and I feel like when I look at her she looks half-assed(sorry for the language), when I know I did put a lot of work into her.

- I learned that sometimes when there is one minute detail that is bugging me or Ive spent a lot of time on one detail I get really bored with it and push it off til later which makes it less wonderful. I think I could fix that by redirecting my focus to other parts of the pot but then circling back and not rushing the parts I hate.

- I really liked the atmosphere of the classroom however I think I could’ve succeeded more if I had friends in the class because I find that conversation helps me hyper focus on my errors less.

- I really enjoyed making all my projects a lot. I don’t know that I could say I had a favorite finished project. I really like making the pinch pot because of all the details I was able to add. I really loved my goldfish because they are cute and goofy and pretty. I also liked my coil pot a lot but currently she is one of my least favorites because she seems slightly useless to me as she has a crack in the bottom and I can’t keep water or flowers in it.

- I think I got really good at creating good ideas for projects and executing them well. I think that I got really good at handling the clay so that is was nearly the exact shape that I wanted. For example, my goldfishes.

- I think one of my biggest ceramic weaknesses was with the pinch pot. I think I need to learn how to make the sides more smooth and even. I’m excited to learn and keep trying to improve in that area and many other areas where I struggle.

- As much as I have sometimes said I’m not a huge fan of all of my projects, I would definitely include them all in my portfolio because they all reflect effort, time, creativity and energy that I spent to make them how they are. Each of my projects has its own little quirks to it and I think they all show how many different things Ive learned over this past semester.

Thank you so much Mrs. P for such a fun semester! Your class was definitely my favorite and I’m so happy I decided to take it. I can’t wait to be back in your class next year!!
